| NORMAL VALUES OF HEMOGLOBIN A1c: |
| HbA1c normal ranges are determined by each laboratory to confirm population characteristics.As a point of reference, 152 apparently healthy adult males and females "Normals" were tested Using Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., HPLC instrumentation. The mean was 5.58%. Values ranged from 4.1 - 6.5 % with SD of 0.43. The 95% confidence limits were 4.2 - 6.2 % HbA1c. Mean Blood Glucose (MBG) was determined using HPLC and the Nathan Formula: HbA1c % X 33.3 – 86 = MBG mg/dl. Example: 6.0% X 33.3 – 86 = 113.8 mg/dl. |
