A1c Test Results

The AccuBase A1c Testing procedure employs a multi-method HPLC (IE/BA) analysis to determine A1c.  Samples are analyzed first by HPLC-IE to determine the presence of any abnormal hemoglobin's (such as "S or C" or unknown peaks) and to ensure the optimal total hemoglobin.

Samples are also analyzed by HPLC-BA (an interference-free) method to negate any carbmylated hemoglobin and/or chemical derivatives that might otherwise alter the actual A1c value.

This method of analysis is considered the most clinically appropriate procedure to use in the measurement of individual glycemic control by the Steering Committee Chairman of the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program (NGSP).

Normal Assay Range 4.2 % - 6.0%

Calculated Mean Blood Glucose (MBG)

(% A1c X 35.6 - 77.3) = MBG mg/dl

How to use the confidential test results table:

1.    Refer to your Vial ID Number on the Top Right of the Lab Form.

2.    Locate your Vial ID Number in this table.

3.    Read the % A1c value and calculated Mean Blood Glucose (MBG) values.

4.    Note comments in the comments column.

Note: Please ensure that members fill the capillary tube device to the 2 black fill lines.
